Ah, it’s Eurovision week! And what else comes to mind other than just glueing yourself (and your family / friends) to the same TV screen as you watch this year’s event unfold for its 66th edition.
The first semi-final took place just 2 days ago on Tuesday night with many countries making their way onto Saturday’s grand final.
Tonight, the second semi-final will also see Malta competing for its chance to join the rest of the other delegates for the final hurdle to see who’s going to be crowned winner of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest!
By now we’re sure you are aware that Malta’s entry for this year is none other than Emma Muscat with I Am What I Am. This single replaced the song, Out of Sight, which saw Emma going to first place during the Maltese national final contest, held back in February at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali.
The good news is that both songs, together with 4 other ones will form part of the latest EP due to be released tomorrow, 13 May, and is titled ‘I Am Emma’.
A bit about Emma Muscat…
She is a 22 year old Maltese singer, who has a long background in music and sport, including her involvement in water sports from a young age. As she grew up to where she is nowadays, Emma’s priorities shifted more towards her musical career and came to most people’s attention during her participation in the 17th edition of Maria De Fillippi’s talent show – Amici, aired in 2018 on Canale 5.
From thereon, Emma produced a number of singles, mainly Avec Moi together with fellow Amici participant Biondo, Sangria in 2020 with Astol and Meglio di sera with the same Astol, and Álvaro de Luna in 2021).
As for the Eurovision Song Contest, Emma will return singing in English with a potential audience of over 180+ million viewers worldwide.
That said, Emma looked very confident walking on the Turquoise Carpet last Monday as the Eurovision week kicked off with a special event held in this year’s hosting city of Turin, more specifically at Venaria Reale – a building with a history going back to 1675.
So, tonight we’ll be rooting for our Emma as she waves the Maltese flag during such a prestigious musical event!
Whatever the result, remember that this is a competition and some will pass, while others won’t – it isn’t the end of the world!
