Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz to face each other in boxing match

Anderso Silva

UFC legends Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz are set square off in an eight-round boxing match on September 11, with the pair seeking to branch out to boxing.

According to several reports, the fight will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, United States in September.

Speaking of the fight, Silva said that he is “very excited to have the opportunity, along with my team, to get in the ring against Tito Ortiz on September 11 with Triller Fight Club, who are really shaking things up in the combat sports world”.

The event will also feature former Olympic gold medal winner and 11-time world champion Oscar De La Hoya, who faces UFC star Vitor Belfort.

The fight between Silva and Ortiz will reportedly be made up of eight two-minute rounds.

“I saw him a little bit more like an older brother. I mean, he had so much experience that it was different, it was not the same time of competition that I had with Seb than what I have with Carlos.”

He added that since Sainz is of a similar age to him, he is competitive with everything, while Vettel had more experience, and so he ended up being less competitive with everything.

Tito Ortiz

Silva, who is now 46, managed to hold on to UFC’s Middleweight Championship for a record-breaking 2,457 days, and throughout his career he defended the title a record ten times.

Ortiz is also a successful mixed martial artist, with him once holding the Light Heavyweight Championship for 1,260 days, even defending the title five times.

However, this event will be a relatively new field for both of them, with Silva fighting in just two previous boxing matches, with the latest being a win against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr after a split decision.

On the other hand, Ortiz has never fought in a professional boxing match, and his last fight in mixed martial arts was back in December 2019.

Therefore, this will be something new for both fighters, but they will both see it as an opportunity to make a name for themselves in different combat sports.
