Summer in the Mediterranean seems to be on a roll with various days in which we have to endure through heatwaves and temperatures over 30°C.
However this can be used as a motivation to discover new beaches and areas across the Maltese Islands where you can beat the heat and freshen up yourself with a pleasant swim!
Today we’ll be looking at 5 beaches in Gozo worth trying!

1
Ramla l-Ħamra Beach
Translates to the Red Sandy beach due to the colour of the sand over a stretch of area forming part of this area which is popular with the Gozitans, the Maltese and those visiting our Islands alike.
Closeby, one can also find a historical site called ‘Calypso Cave’.
2
Ħondoq ir-Rummien
Going down to the south eastern side of the Gozitan Island, we’ll find another favourite spot with beachgoers.
Looking towards the islands of Comino and Malta, this beach boasts a sandy area as well as a rocky one, with saltpans which are still functional and in-use up to this day.

3
Marsalforn
A small, but cute beach in one of the most touristic places of Gozo.
Marsalforn hosts a number of restaurants, gelaterias, bars and cafes which are all close to this sandy beach.
Therefore, you’re never too far away from a fresh lemon granita!
4
Inland Sea
A truly unique area in the Maltese Islands with a natural lagoon giving the impression of a small lake.
Sea water which seeps in from the caves provides this place a different swimming experience for those willing to have a go at visiting this area.
Located in Dwejra, this lagoon was also featured in one of our previous posts related to diving sites.

5
Mġarr ix-Xini
A quaint area in the southern side of Gozo and located within a valley.
It was also used as a movie set in Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s ‘By the Sea’.
The area kind of resembles the Wied iż-Żurrieq area in Malta in that the sea makes its way between the cliffs until it reaches the bay.
Now that you know about these beaches, will you be trying any?
