Hundreds protest in Valletta calling for freedom from lockdown measures

 

Hundreds of people took to the streets of Valletta to call for freedom from restrictive measures in Malta aimed at curbing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The World Wide Rally for Freedom is a demonstration which took place simultaneously in major cities all over the world, including London and New York.

Maltese student Tommy Wallbank completes 1000km charity run in memory of his friend Rebecca

 

After the tragic death of Rebecca Zammit Lupi, who passed away after battling cancer, Tommy was inspired to start the “Run for Becca” initiative where he would run 1km for every 5 euros donated to Puttinu Cares.

He’s inspired many to donate to his cause and to Puttinu Cares, an NGO that supports children and adults suffering from cancer. Way to go Tommy!

Malta’s language schools reopening for exceptions such as fully-vaccinated adult students

 

According to a list of standards issued by the health authorities, the schools can only open for those students who were already in Malta by July 26th and who are in possession of a valid vaccine certificate.

Inquiry holds state responsible for Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination

 

An independent inquiry into the car bomb murder concluded that the government of Malta failed to adequately protect anti-corruption journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia and bore responsibility for creating a “culture of impunity”.

The inquiry, conducted by one serving judge and two retired judges, found that a culture of impunity was created by the highest echelons of power within the government of the time.
