It is a no-brainer that a lot of Maltese people enjoy going for short or even longer trips to the neighbouring island of Sicily.
With its glorious Mount Etna, mouthwatering agritourism opportunities, endless choice of beaches as well as great discounts for a quick shopping spree, makes this destination a natural choice for many.
As such, we’ve thought of you! You have been toying around with the idea of visiting but haven’t made up your mind, just yet!
Here are some activities you can do while in Sicily:

This is a very popular activity for many who want to taste the authentic tastes of the southern Mediterranean area.
While we do have similar experiences in Malta, it is always interesting to see the regional differences when it comes to cultivation, all the way up to presenting a fresh meal.

There’s a whole craze in the Modica area about chocolate.
They are renowned for their chocolate making skills, dating back to the time when Sicily was reigned by Spain.
When in Modica, make sure to try this out!

Sunkissed beaches
Similar to the Maltese Islands, Sicily boasts beautiful beaches across its coastline.
As such, if you’re travelling for a relaxing holiday, you might want to visit some of the most notable beaches on offer: San Vito Lo Capo, Cefalù, Taormina (and Isola Bella), Letojanni, Sampieri and even Mondello.

Sightseeing in Sicily
This island is truly rich in its historical artefacts which remain to this day as some of the most precious in human history. Such examples include the temples in Agrigento which go back to 500 BC.
If history is not your thing, then why not visit some other Sicilian islands? Sicily boasts 3 sets of archipelagos for those who enjoy island hopping: Aeolian Islands (north), Pelagic Islands (south west) and Aegadian Islands (west).
If none of the above, then a visit to Etna might just do the trick!

You might have heard friends and family members speaking about the crazy deals they find in Sicily.
If you are keen on going for a shopping spree then Sicily might just be the right destination for you.
With a number of shopping centres scattered across the Island, you’re bound to strike the right deal and do some bargain buys!
These suggestions are just some of a whole list of possibilities to see and experience.
With an area covering around 25,000km2, you’re bound to find something that you’ll enjoy not too far from home!
And… you can always revisit later on!
