The 21st Century has been a gold mine for comedies ranging from comical kids’ movies to dark comedies that you feel bad laughing at.

Here are 5 hilarious movies you should surely watch if you ever feel like you need a serotonin burst:

Judd Apatow, the director of this movie, almost single-handedly shaped comedy movies during the mid-2000’s with his contribution to movies such as Knocked Up, Pineapple Express and 40-year-old Virgin. This movie was the first he ever directed and what a debut it was. Casting Steve Carrell as the title character was a stroke of genius, as he plays the lonely and hilarious titular character perfectly.

Borat’s character has become so universally renowned and iconic that it may be hard to remember that this movie was truly a lightning in a bottle moment when it came out. It will remain a mystery how Sacha Baron Cohen managed to never break character while improvising most scenes in the movie. A comedy movie like this can’t ever be replicated and the more times we watch it, the funnier it gets.

Any of Edgar Wright’s movies could have made this list but we decided to go with the first feature length film. This movie managed to fuse horror, romance and comedy together with Wright’s signature style of directing to create a unique comedy filled to the brim with British humour. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s brilliant performances manage to keep the movie from going overboard as their bromance helps ground the movie, while also being absolutely hysterical.

The Hangover franchise is one of the highest-grossing comedy franchises of all time, and the first movie remains the best one to this day. It follows a group of friends who travel to Vegas to celebrate their friend’s bachelor party and the rest is 1 hour and 40 minutes of pure chaos. The main cast of characters are hilarious throughout all of the movie but characters such as Mr. Chow and Mike Tyson himself are what make this movie as memorable as it is. 

A great coming of age movie that also doubles as a laugh out loud comedy classic. With tons of iconic moments and memorable characters such as ‘’McLovin’’, Superbad is a certified good time for anyone watching. Superbad boasts a stellar cast of talented actors including the likes of Michael Cera, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader and the introduction of Emma Stone to the general audience. Even though the movie is filled with crude humour and dick jokes, it has a lot of heart which is probably why it remained so popular up to this day.
