Book‌ ‌Review‌: ‌Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin‌

Greetings my fellow readers and welcome to the “Serpent and Dove” by Shelby Mahurin book review.

Let’s start by introducing the basic premise...

Throughout this story we follow Louise, a young witch as she hides in the city of Cesarine. In this French-inspired city, we are also introduced to the Chasseurs, a group of men who have sworn themselves to the church and the noble effort of hunting witches.

Among these holy men, we find the male lead of this book, Reid Diggory. The reader then follows the story of these two polar opposites as they are forced into holy matrimony.

The real brilliance of this book comes from its writing. In all my years reading I have never quite encountered a book that has paid so much attention to the little details. The way Mahurin writes brings the characters off the pages and makes them feel completely real.

I cannot express the joy it brought me to watch as Louise and Reid slowly influence one another, causing subtle changes in each other while always sticking true to their own morals.

I cannot recommend this book enough, it was by far the best book I have ever read.

And perhaps that may sound presumptuous to some of you but I have a valid reason why I feel this way. Since I was young I made a game out of trying to guess the plot twists in stories and I have become quite skilled at it over the years... but when it comes to Mahurin she blindsided me not once, not twice, not even three times!

Every turn I was faced with a new twist that left me gobsmacked and gasping for air.

So please, even if you have never picked up a book before, I urge you to go out and get a copy of Serpent and Dove.

When it comes to ranking this book I feel it is almost impossible to give it anything less than a perfect score, but of course, I am aware that nothing is perfect.
