Book‌ ‌Review‌: Blood and Honey by Shelby Mahurin

Salutations my good reader, I welcome you to my review of ‘Blood & Honey’ by Shelby Mahurin. If you haven’t had the time to read my thoughts on the first book of the series, 'Serpent & Dove' then I suggest you go read that first.

Once you’ve finished with that then I welcome you back here to read all about this brilliant book.

In my review of 'Serpent & Dove', I claimed it to be one of the best books I had ever encountered. I am very pleased to say that my sentiment remains similar to “Blood & Honey”.

Mahurin has once again produced a breath-taking artwork using nothing but her command of the English language and her understanding of the human heart. Similarly to the first book, she provides many moments that make the reader feel a sense of comradery with the characters.

She also has a way of pulling at one’s heartstrings in the most agonising ways possible.

If the first book had been a rollercoaster of emotions, then this was like wading through quicksand, each step slow and methodical but no matter how far you move you know there is always an impending drop.

I wish I could talk more about the contents of this book but I fear even the slightest detail may spoil one plot twist or another… So, instead I shall implore you to pick up a copy and read it for yourself.

You won’t be disappointed!

And now I am once again struck with a dilemma on what score to give this book. I would love to give it a perfect score but even I know that nothing is perfect…

The final ranking for Shelby Mahurin's Blood and Honey:

  • Characters & Character Development: ⭐  ⭐  ⭐  ⭐  ⭐
  • World-Building: ⭐  ⭐  ⭐  ⭐
  • Overall Plot and Spice: ⭐  ⭐  ⭐  ⭐
  • Writing style: ⭐  ⭐  ⭐  ⭐  ⭐
  • Aesthetics: ⭐  ⭐  ⭐

So the average score is:

⭐  ⭐  ⭐    of 5

Stay tuned for the final book review from this series: 'Gods and Monsters'.
