Well… honestly I have no idea where to start when it comes to this book…
I suppose I should introduce it first and give you all a brief summary of what to expect when you pick up a copy of “Gods and Monsters” by Shelby Mahurin.
To say this book is complex would be offensive. It is beyond that… it is… painful and brilliant, tiring and enthralling.
I’ve started this article around 15 times, all I will say is that this won’t be a traditional book review that you might have gotten used to by now.
Rather than explain the story, I’d like to focus on the emotional experience I had while reading it.
When I started the story I was admittedly growing tired of the series and wasn’t invested at all. It took me days to start reading and weeks to get to the good parts of this book. Once I did it was like I had run face-first into a brick wall. I was stunned… and hurt.
Let me tell you I have cried over my fair share of books but never have I sobbed like I have over this one. I cried tears of anger, of sadness and of grief all at once and I would do it all again because after that pain came so much joy.
Trust me when I say that Mahurin manages to create the perfect fairytale ending for this three-part series!
Never before have I struggled so much to start a book and then struggle so much to finish it, only because I could not read fast enough! Every page felt like watching an action montage and waiting eagerly to see how it would end!
I cannot recommend this series enough while looking forward to reading more of Shelby Mahurin’s work!
As far as the final ranking goes, it would have to be a solid 4.9!
