Maltese NGO Zibel hits historic milestone: 100 tonnes of litter collected in 5 years 

 

In the last 5 years, Zibel has engaged more than 4,500 volunteers and 500 divers, with over 52 large-scale clean ups.

To celebrate World Clean Up Day 2021, Zibel took to Manoel Island as part of the Saving our Blue campaign.

Fire breaks out in St Philip’s Hospital area

 

Police have said that it appears no one is injured.

A spokesperson indicated that it could be a sub-station that caused the blaze.

New woodland with 40,000 trees proposed in Inwadar National Park as part of architects’ afforestation project

 

A group of 24 local architects and engineers have released a proposal for a massive afforestation project for the Maltese islands, named ‘Help Malta Breathe’.

The locals propose planting 40,000 indigenous trees in Inwadar National Park, stretching from Żonqor Point to Marsaskala and Xgħajra.

Manuel Delia to leave Malta after receiving death threats

 

Activist and blogger Manuel Delia revealed he is leaving Malta after receiving threats from those accused of complicity in Daphne Caruana Galizia’s murder, according to an Italian organisation advocating for freedom of expression.

In an interview with Articolo 21 published on Wednesday, Delia said the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom was supporting his stay at “a safe place” abroad until things get better.
